About lorna
Things I do, things I learn, things I love.
While working on a bachelor's, I took a 400-level grammar course for fun. It really was. --Lorna
The Long Dark. Hinterland Games has made this survival game an irresistible challenge.
One fantasy job, and there are several of them: To be shut in a room with a bunch of other writers and write for a show like "The Expanse."
Hawksbill Station, by Robert Silverberg. A classic sci-fi book whose themes and sensibility have stayed with me since I read it years ago. And every time I've re-read it since.

The Speed of Dark, by Elizabeth Moon. I haven't read another book quite like this one, science fiction or otherwise.
Bloomsday Run. A 12K community event that's great good fun. Donate your coat by throwing it into the trees ... slam beach balls around the starting line ... pick your favorite band along the route and vote afterward.
Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery does terrific work for babies and children when families are in crisis.

Ruby was one of my earliest programming courses, and I still have a soft spot for it.
Wing Chun is on my bucket list.
If it sounds familiar, it's the theme from the some-time-ago-defunct TV show "Southland." Too bad. Cool show.
Khao neeo mamuang is a Thai dessert, mango served with sticky rice and coconut milk, thick and rich. A luxury to eat.

I'm a huge fan of the Myst series by Cyan. Cyan created Obduction and then Firmament and is working on several projects now, including a possible TV show.
Sites like Paletton help satisfy my fascination with color and how it works on the Web. Fun to play with the tools and try to come up with unexpected combinations that still work.
